Just another Friday

Just another Friday, but I'm glad I was able to stop and notice it going by as it happened...

We woke up and ate breakfast in our pajamas. After that, we took Lewis for a nice walk around the block. Emily pushed three of her "kids" in the stroller. A bit of puttering around the house, and then we went up to Mesa to drop off paperwork for Kindergarten. When we got there, Ms. B, who has worked at the school since P went there, gave us a tour of some of the school. We saw the K-care room, the kindergarten classes, the literacy room, the lunchroom and the gym which was all set up for a performance. Along the way, Em saw Elsa, one of her former classmates from preschool, which was a big highlight. At the end of the tour, Ms. B invited us to come back at 1pm to see a dress rehearsal of the 4th and 5th grades production of The Jungle Book. We had planned on trying to go bowling, but after that offer, we changed our minds.

From there, we went home, and ran a few errands: First, Em deposited some money in the bank and was rewarded with a calculator from the woman at the front desk. Next, we stopped at the ski shop to look at some skis for me, but left empty-handed. We stopped in at Beau Jo's for a couple of slices, hit the Library to pick up a couple of books, then made it home for some rest time before the show.

After I napped, and Em rested, we walked back to the school for the show. It was pretty cool -- most, if not all, of the school was in the gym (Em saw Elsa again.) We found a seat by the door so we could leave early and settled in for the show. The show started, and all the 4th and 5th graders danced and sang their way up to the stage. We saw them perform the story of the Lion and the Mouse and the story of the Ant and the Grasshopper. Then, we watched the first few songs of the Jungle Book and left. Em says the show was great. She wants to be in plays and musical now, too!

We bopped back to the house for a nap, and I had trouble waking Em after an hour and a half, so we ended up running a bit late to meet Mom at The Med. We had another nice walk to the bus and even though we had to wait together for a while, it was nice spending time together. We had a fun ride on bus 2210, and kept passing and being passed by bus 2203. (Neither of us have ridden the hybrid bus yet, though.) Luckily, after finding mom at the bookstore we were able to just beat the crowd at The Med, so we only had to wait a few minutes in the setting sun outside before we got a table and enjoyed some more pizza there.

From The Med, even though Mom was tired and cold, we walked down the mall so Em could spend some of her money at Into the Wind. She chose to purchase a yoyo and 8 marbles.

After spending some of her money, Em wanted to donate some of her charity money to the fund raiser that people from her church were holding at Redfish. We stopped just long enough for Em to prime the donation jar with $9. From there, Mom took her home where she crashed out for the night.

Big Day.

That's what Fundays are all about!!!
